Calling all you homeworkers and others working from home .... National Commute Smart Day is on Wednesday 1 November 2006. Employers are being asked to think a bit smarter about the way employees work. To think about some home working or telecommuting maybe.

National Commute Smart Day was "invented" by Workwise UK. Their objective is to make employers enable more flexible working for staff.

They have some super initiatives, including the one that has always been my favourite: condensed working, which is where you work 4 long days a week and have a nice 3 day weekend every week!

With more employers looking into the ways their staff can work at home, over time increase the number of people working from home as more jobs are proven to work well when done from home.

Roll on the day when the skills of the people and the needs of the job are what is considered important in employing people - and not the location of the office.
