I've done data entry work for all sizes of companies in the past. For actual secretarial and typing work, typical clients I've had had have been students who wanted a typed dissertation, a retired author, a self-employed businessman selling imported cars to army personnel. . . in fact, it's surprising what businesses people ARE running from home that will welcome a local secretarial service to do their paperwork for them.
Secretarial work you could typically do would be typing from hand-written documents, tidying up Word documents people have already started but they need them knocking up into a better layout, creating Powerpoint presentations (easier than typing!), data entry work keeping their customer lists updated in a spreadsheet or simple database... the list is endless.
Many small businesses want to do mail shots, but never have the time to get round to it. Although these seem straight forward, they are time consuming and most people in business just don't have the time to sit down and produce the letters, print them off, fold them into envelopes and post them off. Small local businesses will only be wanting to send out 100 or so letters but that could be worth £100-200 to you!
